It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas at C. L. Salter Elementary School...aka Salterville

'Twas the first day of the last week of school before Christmas break...
Some teachers and Mrs. Griffin thought they would joyfully make
The lunchroom look more festive for our students and teachers, too
By decorating the lunchroom...just for all of you!
Some decorations were placed in the lunchroom by elves....
They "Seussed" up the place, in spite of themselves!
The "Seuss Hat-topped Tree" is seusstatically aglow
With its red and white ornaments, we want you to know!
Each table top is covered with Holiday red and white
With a few "Christmasy" touches to add to your delight.
Please mind your Christmas manners as you dine during lunch
Enjoy the decorations; you all are loved a bunch!
Remember as the holidays are here, there's a reason
That love is the gift of all gifts this Christmas Season.
All of you children are loved more than you know...
For love is what we do; it is what we all show.
Let's all try really hard to show our love and Christmas cheer
As we end 2015 and ring in a brand new year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Love,
C. L. Salter "Salterville" Staff

It's Beginning To Sound A Lot Like Christmas....                       at Salterville, that is

At a time when the world seems so unsure and people seem to have no heart
It seems as pain and suffering, too, are playing the biggest part.
But in our little part of this great, big world, in a corner of this Talladega town...
Our students and teachers joined forces in song and their music has brought this house DOWN!

After crowning and adorning our two kings and queens our community came together today
We enjoyed the sounds of the holiday season from each grade level in their own creative way!
So turn up your speakers and listen to it all; your heart will be blessed, I'm sure....
For nothing is sweeter than the Christmas song of a child...so wonderful and so sweetly pure.

Merry Christmas to you all from your Salterville Family!

Check us out on the News!
A November to Remember

The Fall Festival kicked off this busy month
And what a busy month it has been!
We've had so much going on around here
Since I don't remember when!

The Fall Festival was a huge success
The Ritz hosted a play to be seen...
The horse arena had the Princess show
And that was just something; I do mean!

The teachers have all had meetings to attend
To better what they do every day...
Mrs. Griffin and Mrs. Noel, too
Keep us grounded and steer us the right way!

But busy is something for which to give thanks
Because it means we are healthy and able.
It means we are able to provide for our families
And put a Thanksgiving feast on the table.

The busy school life means we all have a family
To spend every day with, 7-3.
I don't know about you but I'm thankful for that,
And everybody at Salter Elementary!

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!  Don't eat too much!

"Classroom in the Forest"
by:  Laura Posey, 4th Grade Teacher

Our 4th graders traveled to Munford, Alabama and participated in "Classroom in the Forest" outside at Munford schools on Monday, October 5th, 2015. The kids had a variety of sessions they completed on a rotational basis during the day to learn about the forest. The activities were done by the forest service, 4-H, Choccolocco Creek Watershed Alliance, Alabama Forestry Commission, Natural Resource Conservation Service, and a Private land owner. We also had ambassadors from Munford High School that were our tour guides. During the day, they did numerous activities to learn about trees, different animals and their habitats, team building, and had a time to go fishing in the fish pond. We even had some students who helped in catching a catfish. The students had such a wonderful time and took many skills with them to understand more about the forest, its animals, and help them grow as leaders. We received a report from one of the instructors that our students were well behaved, good participants and knowledgeable.  This is what field trips are all about...learning outside the classroom!  As you can see from the pictures below, the students were completely engaged in the topic of the field trip.  We are so glad they had the opportunity to experience "Classroom in the Forest."

2015

C. L. Salter "Salterville" students, teachers and staff were treated to a pep rally this morning!  The THS Marching Drumline, Dancers and Varsity Cheerleaders were full of spirit as they arrived on campus.  They were greeted by all students here, K-6, wearing Tiger masks, shaking spirit cans and holding up signs.  These precious students will one day walk the hallowed halls of THS and will return to Salterville in uniform to help us celebrate future homecomings.  Despite all the negative going on in the world and our little town, it does our hearts good, that, for a few minutes, we can celebrate the good and create memories that last a lifetime.  We are thankful and blessed to be a part of Talladega City Schools.  Enough sappy, let's get happy!
BEAT THOSE AGGIES TONIGHT!  GO, THS!
